Introduce about Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City
Vehicles, the focus of Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City
Although it is only a game on a handheld console platform, Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City still owns a relatively impressive car collection. The game has a total of 29 different cars, coming from famous car manufacturers in real life such as Ford, Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Lamborghini,… The cars selected to be included in the game all have street identities, suitable for the context of the game.
Control mechanisms on the vehicles
Products under the Need For Speed brand all focus on designing physical mechanisms that impact from inside and outside the car. Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City is no exception. The game applies many physical simulation techniques such as simulation of centrifugal force, traction, road friction, etc. This design makes the driving experience in the game more realistic.
Cars in Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City have three main stats, including: Top Speed, Acceleration, and Handling. Each car has a certain number of stats from the start, the better the car, the higher the stats. You can also use cash to upgrade parts on the car, helping it increase its stats.
The speed index will determine the maximum speed that your car can reach. The acceleration index will determine the maximum time for the car to accelerate to the maximum speed (only in standard road conditions), the higher the acceleration, the shorter the maximum acceleration time. The ability to control will help you control the car more easily, corner better and less likely to lose control due to over-cornering.
Crew member mechanism, inserting members into the race track
In Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City, you can use money to hire gang members and take them into racing events. Gang members will make it difficult for your rival racers, or can give you an advantage on the track. This feature can be applied in both story mode and quick play, except for some racing events such as Escape, Crew Takedown, and Lap Knockout.
On the track, to request assistance from a gang member, you can press the virtual round button, that member’s car will immediately approach the target and provide assistance when eligible. After calling for assistance, this feature will enter a standby process and you have to wait a long time to be able to use it again.
Gang members are divided into the following roles:
- Brawler: Knock the targeted racer off the track by directly hitting their car. You can only target one racer at a time.
- Drafter: Accelerate and move forward in front of your car, creating an aerodynamic zone that gives you a massive boost for a short period of time.
- Assassin: Drop a spike strip in front of the target car, causing the target to be impacted, slowing down, losing control, or even being unable to continue racing for a short period of time. Note that the spike strip affects all cars that pass through it, including you. Stay away from the targeted racer to avoid accidentally running over the spikes.
Story mode and quick play
Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City has two modes: Career mode (story) and Quick race (quick play). The story mode is the most invested content, and also the content that takes up the most proportion of Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City. In addition to conveying the story of the game, the story mode also unlocks racing areas (tracks), racing events (events), and racing vehicles (vehicles) for you to use in quick play.
Quick race is a mode that allows you to create a race with a race area and race events of your choice. In quick play, after creating a race, you can start racing immediately without having to go through cutscenes or story sections like in the story mode.
Note that many of the racing areas and quick play events will be locked until you beat certain story chapters, so you should prioritize completing the story to unlock all of Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City’s content.
