Are you an exploration enthusiast, wanting to solve difficult puzzles but don’t want to play games alone? Then the game Tick Tock: A Tale for Two was born for you. This is a two-player puzzle game published by Other Tales Interactive on many different platforms. Here you will have to go back in time with your friends to the past to learn about the mysterious disappearance of a character in the game. Now let’s explore this game with me.

Introducing Tick Tock: A Tale for Two

The game belongs to the Adventure, Casual, Indie genre with many puzzles that need you to decode and mysterious cigarettes waiting for you.

Mysterious disappearance

On a normal, probably quite nice day like today, my friend and I both received a parcel from someone named Amalie. It was a letter and a small parcel box containing a grandfather clock and a piece of old newspaper. Through talking with you, we realized that this was a request from Amalie. This person named Amalie has a missing sister and we – those who are qualified in searching – are asked to help find Amalie’s sister.

With the only clue being a short news clipping and a pocket watch, we have guessed its secret. Setting the clock to the exact time Amalie’s sister disappeared, a strange vortex from the clock pulled us into nothingness back in 1937 on the day that girl disappeared. Waking up in a strange forest where all information is extremely limited, can we find the missing girl and escape this place? My friend, let’s explore this place with me.

Unique gameplay

Unlike regular adventure puzzle games – where you often have to play solo to get through the game – Tick Tock: A Tale for Two requires two players to clear the game. However, not two people can play on the same device. You and your friends (or lovers) play on two separate devices, and choose different roles in the game.

You can sit next to each other  or communicate with each other in some way. However, many developers recommend that you not see each other’s screens. That is the intention of the developers, they want to bring people together, have fun together and think that it will cultivate feelings from both sides.

Each player must choose a different role in the game (player 1 and player 2). Due to different roles, the content in the game will change a bit to avoid duplication. The puzzle on this person’s side will require clues from the other person to decode. Interesting, right? On the market today, there are quite a few games in the same genre as Tick Tock: A Tale for Two with unique gameplay like this.

An overwhelming dark space

We must praise the developers of the game Tick Tock: A Tale for Two, they have successfully created a lively and realistic forest. The forest has a gloomy color with the creepy howling of birds and crows. Is this fear part of the reason Amalie’s sister disappeared?

In this gloomy forest there is a small house, a shallow well, a rest stop and an old watch repair shop. There was no one in sight, and the flashing lights made the horror even greater. Occasionally you will see a few white crows flying around and making creepy “crow” sounds. What a weird place!

Forest with scary sounds

The sound in Tick Tock: A Tale for Two is carefully adjusted to each scene. You can hear the wind whistling in the woods, the crows chirping, the leaves rustling. Not only are there sounds of the forest, every time you impact an object they will also emit a very realistic sound.

For example, the sound when you press the control button on a train game machine, or when you touch the lantern hanging in front of a dry well. Even the music box in the game can play music if you wind it up. Every time you change scenes, there will be a creaking sound like gears colliding. Could it be that this isn’t real and that we are inside a clock? I’m starting to feel a bit scared.
