Background

Opening with the apocalyptic context because of the typical zombie epidemic, I thought Dead Age would follow the path of the usual zombie shooting games. But playing a few minutes, I have realized that survival in Dead Age is much more difficult.

Survival skills are the measure of survival time

Initially, you are not a talented leader. You are just one lucky survivor who is allowed to join a group of people in a safe base.

But “safety” in this day and age is also relative, nothing is not dangerous. With the people in the base, you will face many difficulties in terms of food supplies, drinking water is dwindling, injured survivors need to be sorted and cared for, hoarding materials are increasingly rare. Who will be assigned to go out to collect things for the group?

Working with your team to solve problems one by one, you will slowly become more proficient in survival skills, steadily progress and gradually become a base leader.

Roguelike turn-based combat

In your base, human life is precious. Whatever, as long as you’re alive, there’s hope. But to survive, you will need the collective strength of everyone in the base.

You will assign someone in the group to gather outside materials, one person is responsible for making equipment, tools and weapons to fight for survival. Arrange and assign so that you and your base members live as long as possible. The longer you live, the more you and everyone else have a chance to learn more valuable survival skills.

Every time you fight a zombie, you face classic fast-paced turn-based battles. But which strategy you choose is up to you. Choose who goes to battle, what weapon to use, defend or focus on attacking from the beginning, use traps and melee weapons or create bombs to destroy the whole group of zombies. It’s all free, depending on your command and battle planning skills.

If you die in the middle of a battle, you can come back to life but start from the beginning. The previously unlocked occupations will be retained to give you a foundation to progress faster later. You can also buy, sell, exchange the degrees and medals accumulated from previous “deaths” to bring advantage to the current survival.

But don’t worry the game will repeat. Because each new game, Dead Age will automatically provide random missions, the context is also non-linear design. Even the people you will meet on the road later are different. And one more important thing…

Non-linear story with many unpredictable endings

Follow your decisions, follow the change each resurrection, choose actions on the way to survival, the story of Dead Age will have many changes to follow. Consequences are real, every decision you make in conflict situations affects the ending of the story.

There are 6 different endings in Dead Age. Each ending will give you a different ending for the character. You can become a hero in the middle of the dark ages who dares to stand up for other survivors. Or you can also be a selfish person, living for yourself, collecting things for yourself to let others live and die without bothering. Or further, you can go into a romantic relationship with a few other survivors to spark a hidden rivalry within the group and lead to unfortunate consequences.

Dead Age also brings many daily events with increasing levels of danger. Participating in these events, you may face new headache choices but in return the rewards are completely worth it.
